So you want to start a webcomic but don't know where to start? Here is advice on the basics of starting a webcomic from scratch

[edit] Name

Your webcomic name is one of the most important decisions you make, other than what the comic will be about. But whilst what the comic is about can change over time, the name lasts forever. Whilst it is possible that you can change the name at a later date, it is strongly recommended that you keep that same name throughout the comic’s entirety. So for all intents and purposes, once you’ve chosen a name, that’s it. So choose wisely!

A good name should relate to the comic in someway, and be memorable. It is important to make sure that somebody hasn’t already come up with the name, so once you have an idea for a name, search google for it. If it gets zero hits, that suggests quite strongly that there is no comic with such name and you’re free to use it. It also means that once your comic gets going and people search for your comic by name, they will be able to find you more easily. Also, you’ll be able to search google with your comic name to see if anybody on the net has mentioned your comic.
